Current Responsibilities

 

·         Executive Officer of fire and rescue operations for Colleton County covering 1,132 square miles and employing approximately 235 personnel (90 career, 145 paid on-call) with an annual call volume of 8,500+ from 35 stations and serves as Colleton County's Emergency Management Director.

·         In absence of Chief, act as Chief of fire and rescue department

·         Direct all operations, fire prevention, inspection, investigation, training, water supply, and Advanced Life Support Ambulance Treatment and Transportation activities.

·         Work with County Administrator, Fire Commission and County Council to establish, propose, and revise annual budgets.

·         Coordinate press releases and serve as public information officer.

·         Serve as incident commander at emergency scenes when necessary.

·         Recommend, specify and approve purchases of equipment and insure expenditures are within budgets.

·         Coordinate with fleet management department for vehicle repairs and bids for new apparatus.

·         Assist with the design, bidding, and construction oversight of fire stations.

·         Coordinate, investigate and document workers compensation claims, civilian/fire service injuries and fatalities.

·         Develop Operating Directives and Safety Procedures and insure OSHA and DHEC compliance.

·         Direct Insurance Service Office (ISO) inspections.

·         Direct Hazardous Materials Response/Technical Rescue Teams and serve as chief fire investigator.
